Marisa Dockum, ImPRessions Internal Account Associate
On Monday, December 3, AVW Productions was announced as the Public Relations Student Society of America’s ImPRessions spotlight. AVW is a student-run media production house in Athens. They currently produce multiple shows ranging from sports to news to minority issues.
Along with other tasks, the account promotes @AVWHockey, an AVW twitter account that streams Bobcat Hockey live every home game. Their promotion process includes tabling, flyering, and social media. These efforts go towards growing twitter followers and traffic. To conquer the workload of social media, each account associate is assigned a week to cover all outlets and write blog posts about a particular show.
“I enjoy working on the AVW Productions account because we not only get to work with a student organization at OU but they also have numerous individual shows that we get to promote and put on events for. Not to mention we have a great group of girls who are fun and work hard,” junior Carly Damman said.
One of the big projects of the semester is the premier of AVW’s first feature length film, The Overlords. The Account Executives have been collaborating with the client to maximize this event. As part of the promotions, the account collaborated with The Front Room to create coffee sleeves with information about the event. There will be 1,200 total coffee sleeves with The Overlords stickers on them!
The Overlords will premier on Monday, December 3 at 7:05 p.m. in Baker Theatre and there will be an encore on Tuesday night at the same time and same place. This is a free event. Check out the thrilling movie trailer here:
Looking into the future, the account will focus on increasing the student body’s awareness of AVW. Account Executive Ashley Ferrell says, “We plan on increasing their Vimeo hits, enhancing their YouTube presence, increasing Twitter followers and their likes on Facebook. In addition to overall awareness of AVW, we want to create more content for their upcoming website.”
